Congratulations and thanks to all those who participated in the Survivor Challenge in September. A check for $10,000 will be presented to CCHMC at the Annual Courage Awards dinner/auction on November 17th to fund a grant that was raised by childhood cancer survivors. A special congrats goes out to Emme Ritzenthaler who won the Challenge by raising the most money, earning her an Ipod Shuffle! Special thanks also goes out to (childhood survivors) Liz Carr, Andy Hare and Zach Bohannon who chaired the Survivor Challenge committee.
The November 15, 2010, issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer features an excellent article about an experimental cancer treatment developed here in Cincinnati. Dr. Xiaoyang Qi, co-developer of the compound SapC-DOPS, was awarded his first research grant from CancerFree KIDS back in 2004! Read the article at the Enquirer website, or download it here as a PDF.
The mission of CancerFree KIDS is to eradicate cancer as a life-threatening disease in children by funding promising research that might otherwise go unfunded.
